Budimpešta -- Antifašisti i pristalice krajnje desnice održali su suprotstavljene skupove ispred budimpeštanske crkve u kojoj je otkrivena bista diktatora Mikloša Hortija.



On je Mađarskom vladao između 1920. i 1944. godine.

Oko 500 ljudi, koji su demonstrirali protiv odavanja počasti Hortju, bliskom savezniku Adolfa Hitlera, su oko rukava nosili žutu Davidovu zvezdu, koju su Jevreji morali da nose tokom vladavine nacista, izveštava AFP.

Istovremeno su stotine desničara, okupljenih oko novootkrivene biste, klicali diktatoru, koji je uveo antijevrejske zakone u Mađarskoj i nadgledao deportaciju Jevreja u logore 1944. godine.

Neki Mađari u Hortiju vide spasioca Mađarske posle kratkotrajne komunističke revolucije 1919. i traumatičnog gubitka znatnih teritorija posle Prvog svetskog rata.

Poslednjih godina u Mađarskoj se donekle obnavlja Hortijev kult, što se očituje i podizanjem spomenika i davanjem njegovog imena ulicama. Kritičari optužuju desničarsku vladu premijera Viktora Orbana da prećutno pothranjuje nostalgiju za Hortijem.

Postavljanje biste i njeno današnje otkrivanje organizovao je izvesni protestantski pastor, povezan sa desničarskim snagama. Današnji dan je izabran zbog 75-godišnjice sporazuma Mađarske sa nacističkom Nemačkom, kojim je predviđen povraćaj teritorija izgubljenih na osnovu Trijanonskog mirovnog ugovora iz 1920. godine.

Tho­usands march for Szekler autonomy

Thousands of ethnic Hungarians marched in rallies in Romania on Sunday to demand territorial autonomy for their minority group. The peaceful demonstrations were held in 14 communities in Transylvania while supporters also rallied in Hungary.
Ethnic Hungarians make up about 6% of Romania’s population of 19 million. Out of this, the historical Szeklerland in central Romania has a Szekler-Hungarian population of about 600,000. President of the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR) Kelemen Hunor told The Associated Press on Sunday that they want territorial autonomy to maintain their ethnic identity and grow economically. However, the Romanian government is opposed.



Participants formed a 53-kilometre human chain along Romania’s DN11 road, holding the Szekler and Hungarian flags to protest against the Romanian government’s planned administrative changes affecting the region. The so-called Great March of the Szeklers was organised by the Szekler National Council. Their number was estimated at about 120,000 by the participants and at 15,000 by the Romanian authorities.
In a proclamation announced during a radio broadcast at the event, the Szeklers declared that territorial autonomy would serve as an institutional guarantee for full and real equality. “We want to remind the Romanian government that (its) disregard for dialogue and the Szeklers’ determination will not force us to give up our struggle for autonomy,” said Balázs Izsák, president of the Szekler National Council.
The event was supported and addressed by the heads of all ethnic Hungarian political forces in Romania. Demonstrations were held in support in 13 cities across Hungary, including the capital. In Budapest thousands marched from Heroes Square to the Romanian Embassy, carrying Hungarian and Szekler flags, and signs reading “Territorial autonomy for Szeklerland”.
The Civic Cooperation Forum (CÖF), which organised the demonstrations in Hungary, said it would send a petition to the European Union and the Romanian government to call for Szekler autonomy to be considered.
The ruling Fidesz party with its ally Christian Democrats (KDNP), the main opposition Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP) and the E14-PM electoral alliance, as well as the Jobbik and LMP parties, stated their support for the Szeklers’ march. But leftist opposition party Democratic Coalition (DK) said the protest would not serve the interests of Szekler autonomy.
E14-PM’s support was not welcomed by some. In open letters addressed to the alliance and its leader, ex-prime minister Gordon Bajnai, now-former E14-PM supporters expressed their concern that the alliance is “embracing Fidesz’s nationalism the same way Fidesz is embracing [radical nationalist party] Jobbik’s racism”.
