On This Date in 1935, the King Peter II was officially opened. It was designed to be just a railroad bridge with two lanes and console for cars. HRH Prince Paul, an uncle of HM King Peter II officially opened the bridge. During the Second World War the Yugoslav Army destroyed the bridge in order to stop Nazi’s progress. The bridge was rebuilt after the Second World War and renamed to “Red Army Bridge”, while today is known as “Pancevo Bridge”.
