We will always remember the victims of the NATO bombing
Belgrade, 23 March 2016 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander addressed the public on the occasion of 24 March, the anniversary of the NATO bombing of Serbia:
“Thursday, March 24, marks seventeen years since the aggression against our country and our people that Europe only remembers from the time of World War II. Today, as in the previous seventeen years, with great sadness we remember the terrible aggression and suffering that all of our citizens and our whole country endured during the seventy-eight-day bombing of Serbia in 1999. We pray for those who were tragically killed and their families.
Even after seventeen years Serbia is still struggling to recover from the devastation it suffered from the bombing of our citizens, our country and the destruction of our infrastructure. Once again it was demonstrated that violence only generates more violence, and that the permanent solution in the former Yugoslavia, and elsewhere, can only come through peaceful means.
Lives that were lost, as well as many injured people, they must never be forgotten” – said Crown Prince Alexander.
The Crown Prince expressed his hope that such aggression will never happen again and that our country will focus all its resources to create a develop a strong and stable democracy, economy, respect of all citizens regardless of their religious or ethnic origin.
