Belgrade, July 15, 2016 – An exhibition showing the Serbian Royal Orders from Karadjordje’s age to today was officially opened tonight at the Vineyard Keeper’s House of the Foundation of King Peter I in Oplenac. The authors of the exhibition are Mr. Dragomir Acovic, Chairman of the Crown Council, and Professor Ljubodrag Grujic, heraldic artist. The opening ceremony was attended by HRH Prince Mihajlo Karadjordjevic, His Grace Bishop Jovan of Sumadija, Mr Dragan Zivanovic, Mayor of Topola, member of the Crown Cabinet Prof. Dr. Kosta Cavoski, as well as many representatives of cultural and public life.

Welcoming the guests Mr. Dragomir Acovic said: “During the last two centuries the Supreme Leader and his descendants went through entire falleristic history, from individuals with merits to the source and embodiment of virtues and flaws of the nation they led. The decorations that were worn by the Karadjordjevics, by right of birth and by functions, on the basis of personal virtue in war and peace, on the basis of symbolic representation of the institution that has outlived its constitutional and legal position, revealing a part of the total picture of the times in which we live and whose consequences we live today. The Karadjordjevics were men of their time in the world and men for all time in Serbia and among the Serbs”.

During the opening ceremony, in addition to the author, the audience was also addressed by Ms. Dusanka Maricic, the curator of the Military Museum.

As of tomorrow, all the visitors of the Foundation of King Peter I in Oplenac will be able to see the exhibition.
