Crown Prince and Crown Princess will deliver tomorrow donations to Goracici School and the General Hospital in Uzice

Belgrade, 13 September 2016 – TRH Crown Prince Alexander Crown Princess Katherine will tomorrow 14th of September at 11:30 am visit the elementary school in Goracici and deliver a donation for its renovation.

TRH Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine will arrive to Uzice at 13:10 where they will deliver eight special electric beds with power transformers for the intensive care unit of the Uzice General Hospital.

All the valuable donations worth 46 000 dollars have were provided by the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization Lifeline whose patron is HRH Crown Princess Katherine in cooperation with Dr. Daniel Djuraskovic Megler and Trimedix Foundation.

White Palace Sumadija wine promotion

Belgrade, September 14, 2016 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander and Association of Sumadija winemakers are organizing exhibition Art &Wine at the White Palace on Thursday, September 15 at 6:00 pm. Nineteen painters will exhibit their artworks and twelve wineries from Sumadija region will present their wines. Serbian Government Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of public and cultural life are among the invitees.

The Royal Winery from the Foundation of King Peter I Oplenac will present their wines, while the Folk Dance Ensemble “Oplenac” will present Sumadija’s traditional dances and customs. Jazz quartet "Lesandrum" will also perform at the event.

“House of Karadjordje Heraldry” exhibition opening

Belgrade, 21 September 2016 – Exhibition “House of Karadjordje Heraldry”, whose visitors will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the coats of arms of the royal family, will be opened on Thursday, 22 September at 18 am, in the House of King Petar I in Oplenac near Topola.

The authors of the exhibition are Mr. Dragomir Acovic, chairman of the Crown Council and Mr Ljubodrag Grujic, the Herald of the Royal House, and the opening ceremony will be attended by Prof. Momcilo Pavlovic, the director of the Institute for Contemporary History.

House of King Peter I in Oplenac has been opened for heraldry lovers

Topola, 22 September 2016 – Coats of arms of the Royal Family Karadjordjevic, as well as many interesting facts about heraldry and history of the Karadjordjevics, are expecting the visitors of the exhibition “House of Karadjordje Heraldry”, which opened in the House of King Petar I in Oplenac. At the opening there were present HRH Prince Mihailo with his fiancée Ms Ljubica Ljubisavljevic, Mr Dragan Zivanovic, Mayor of Topola and many distinguished guests.

The exhibition was opened by Prof. Momcilo Pavlovic, the director of the Institute for Contemporary History and Mr. Dragomir Acovic, chairman of the Crown Council. The authors of the exhibition are Mr. Acovic and Mr. Ljubodrag Grujic, the Herald of the Royal House. The exhibition will be open until the end of the tourist season in Oplenac.

“Coats of arms were once the most important sign of recognition and carried important symbolism that was tied to a person or a family. Here today we have an insight into the entire rich heraldic history of the House of Karadjordje, which, along with the stories that accompany its emergence, will provide the visitors with a unique educational experience”, said Dragomir Acovic, chairman of the Crown Council and one of the authors of the exhibition.

“House of Karadjordje Heraldry” is the third in a series of exhibitions this season in Oplenac, and visitors can still enjoy the setting of the “Orders of the House of Karadjordje” and “Forming of the church of St. George’s interior and Nikola Krasnov”.

Royal couple in Detroit for charity events

Detroit, Michigan, USA, 25 September 2016 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine have been in Detroit where they participated in important international charity events that raised funds for the treatment of the hearing impaired children in Serbia.

During their stay in Detroit Their Royal Highnesses met with many people who are important for raising funds for the citizens of our country. The Crown Prince and Crown Princesses visited the Michigan Ear Institute, and talked about further opportunities to help children with hearing impairments, as well as Serbian children from around the world, with Dr. Daniel Megler, a physician of Serbian origin and the President of the organization “The Holley Family Village”. Also, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine visited the hospital and the Holley center with Mrs. Ardis Gardella, the president of The Holley Institute. During this humanitarian mission, Their Royal Highnesses visited the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral Ravanica in Detroit where they were also having a fundraising lunch in aid of Lifeline organization.

“I wish to thank our friends from Detroit who helped Lifeline Humanitarian Foundation to be part of such a major project to help hearing impaired children. Our struggle does not end here, in the coming days we shall visit charity events in other cities of the United States, too, to achieve new cooperation and continue to provide assistance to the Serbian people”, said Princess Katherine.

In July last year HRH Crown Princess Katherine organized the travel and education for hearing impaired children in “The Holley Family village” camp in Detroit. This trip was organized by the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Megler, and it was for the two kindergarten teachers of “Stefan Decanski” school for hearing impaired children, as well as the seven-year-old student of this school, accompanied by her mother. This year the training is organized for two students accompanied by their lecturers.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by Barbara and Alfred Fisher III, as well as by Mr. Anthony Soave, the president of Soave Enterprises and an active participant in the greater Detroit community, with whom they were discussing on further philanthropic projects.

Royal Couple hosted in Serbian Bar Association of America in Chicago

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine were the guests of honor at a reception hosted by the Serbian Bar Association of America at the Gallery at Green River in Chicago.

SBAA president Marko Duric welcomed Their Royal Highnesses to the reception and introduced Lifeline Chicago Vice President, Milena T Bajich, PsyD, who spoke about Lifeline’s 23 year connection to the American Serbian community in Chicago and the Midwest. Dr Bajich introduced HRH Crown Prince Alexander to the assembled guests, who listened intently to his remarks before introducing HRH Crown Princess Katherine to address the group.

Princess Katherine spoke with passion about the continuing need for medical and social programs that address the needs of the most underserved, vulnerable populations in Serbia. Her Royal Highness believes that there are no borders when it comes to human suffering.

All the attendees were very encouraged and honored to attend this reception at Gallery at Green River, where all together they were discussed wider humanitarian cooperation. Following the formal remarks, Their Royal Highnesses engaged in discussions with individuals and small groups about specific humanitarian efforts in Serbia and how they can get involved with the foundation and Lifeline going forward.

Royal Couple hosted in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine were the guests of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral parish in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The visit and reception were arranged by Cathedral Dean, Very Rev. Dragan Veleusic, and prominent members of the Serbian community.

The purpose of the entire Royal Visit was to recognize the contributions of Serbian community leaders, as well as leading nonprofit organizations, such as Lifeline Chicago committed to organizing and supporting relief efforts that reduce and relieve the suffering of the most disadvantaged and underserved populations in Serbia.

The Royal Midwest Tour is managed by the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization – Chicago office, operating under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine.

During their weeklong visit, Their Royal Highnesses were also received at St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Detroit, Michigan, and at the St. Sava Academy School and Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Chicago. They will be the honored guests of the Serbian Bar Association of America on Thursday, also in Chicago.

On Friday, the Royal Couple will visit the museum at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville, Indiana, and attend dinner with golfers and guests following the First Charity Golf Outing sponsored by Lifeline-Chicago. The event is designed to raise awareness and gain support for the ongoing medical and humanitarian needs of the Serbian people.

In Milwaukee, the Royal Couple toured the cathedral and surrounding grounds prior to a well-attended dinner reception inside the St. Sava Cultural Center.

Lifeline Chicago has been serving the needy for over 23 years. They are a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation, staffed entirely by volunteers.

ROYAL COUPLE IN TORONTO FOR LIFELINE CANADA FUNDRAISING FOR PEDIATRIC ULTRASOUNDS

Toronto, Canada, 2 October 2016 – In the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine Karadjordjevic, the Board of Directors of Lifeline Canada held their annual charity event in Toronto. The vision of the event was to raise funds in order to purchase pediatric ultrasounds which currently are not available in many hospitals and are urgently needed. The event took place at the Don Valley Parkway Hotel in Toronto.

The organizers are hoping that the fund raiser will serve both to enlighten and encourage the public to give generously and promote the continued interaction between the Diaspora and Serbia. Their goal is to raise funds to purchase as many ultrasounds as possible and everyone who is willing can help in this mission and insure the healthy wellbeing of many of our new born infants and children. The cost of each ultrasound is 60,000.00 Canadian dollars.

Together with Lifeline organizations worldwide, Their Royal Highnesses efforts and hard work continue to provide much needed help throughout Serbia and their achievements have been life changing.

The next stop of Their Royal Highnesses, in their humanitarian mission in Canada, is Ottawa, where they will be visiting St. Stefan Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Their Royal Highnesses humanitarian mission in Ottawa, Canada

Ottawa, Canada, 2-3 October 2016 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine started their humanitarian mission to Ottawa with a visit to St. Stefan Serbian Orthodox Church. This was followed by a tour of Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in order to establish a cooperation and help children from Serbia.

Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by H.E. Mr Mihailo Papazoglu, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Canada. After visiting St. Stefan Serbian Orthodox Church where they met Serbian children with their parents, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine also visited Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario where they were talking to Mr. Alex Munter, President and CEO of CHEO, regarding new humanitarian activities and helping children.

Their Royal Highnesses had a charity dinner at St. Stefan Banquet and Event Centre where they continued raising funds for the people from Serbia.

On Monday, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine met Jacques Frémont, President of the University of Ottawa in order to make new contacts and projects in the field of education.

ROYAL COUPLE AT ROYAL WEDDING IN ALBANIA

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine are in Tirana as guests of the Albanian Royal Family (http://www.albanianroyalcourt.al/pages/welcome), for the wedding of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Leka of the Albanians and Miss Elia Zaharia.

The joyful event took place today at the Royal Palace in Tirana in the presence of both the Zaharia and Royal Families. It was followed by a special spiritual multi religious ceremony and many attendees, the wedding day was crowned in the evening by a gala dinner also at the Royal Palace (note the Royal Residence was restituted to Crown Prince Leka).

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Leka II of the Albanians was born on the 26th of March 1982 in Johannesburg, South Africa to Their Majesties King Leka I and Queen Susan. The clinic ward was proclaimed Albanian territory for 24 hours by the South African government during his birth. The prince was given the name Leka, Anwar, Zog, Reza, Baudouin, Msiziwe and since his father’s death in 2011 he is the head of the of the Albanian Royal Family. He was proclaimed successor of the Royal Crown by His Majesty King Leka I in 2000 after his 18th birthday according to the Statute of 1928 of the Albanian monarchy. He is the sole head of the orders of the Besa and Skederbej and holds the Grand Cross of the Order of Santi Maurizio de Lazzaro.

Elia Zaharia is the daughter of George Zaharia and Yllka Muji. Her father originates from Kosova of Permeti, a region of Southern Albania. Whilst the Muji family come from Podgorica, Montenegro, later moving to Albania’s northern City of Shkoder during the monarchy. After her marriage to HRH Crown Prince Leka II on October 8th, Miss Zaharia will be known as Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Elia of the Albanians.

INTERNATIONAL CUISINE NIGHT AT THE ROYAL PALACE

Belgrade, 10 October 2016 - The traditional evening of international cuisine will take place at the Royal Palace in Belgrade on Friday, 14 October, starting at 7:00 pm. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine and Their Royal Highnesses daughter Alison Andrews will on this occasion host the representatives of the diplomatic corps who will present their national cuisine and their culture and traditions.

In addition to numerous specialties, the guests will have the opportunity to enjoy special types of coffee “Bean and Leaf”, and the event will be complemented by the performance of the cultural and artistic society Gradimir which will perform Serbian folk dances.

FIFTH ONCOLOGY CONFERENCE IN BELGRADE

Belgrade, 17 October 2016 – Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine will open on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Hyatt Regency Belgrade the 5th Oncology Conference, where the latest news, experience of local and international doctors, as well as the current situation in Serbia in the fields of prevention, diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical and lung cancer will be presented.

Organizers of the symposium are Crown Princess Katherine Humanitarian Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from New York, Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia and Institute for Pulmonary diseases of Vojvodina in Sremska Kamenica.

The same day in the evening, from 7 PM, the reception for the participants and media representatives will be held at the White palace.

HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE OPENED KIDS FAIR

Kids Fair, the biggest event for children in the region, was opened today by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine, as well as by Goran Vesić, the city manager, Željko Tanasković, the president of the Serbian School Sport Federation and Aleksandar Šoštar, President of the Sports Federation of Serbia.

At the Kids fair you will have the opportunity to enjoy a performance by the choir Čarolija, children’s theater, folklore dance, as well as various sport and fun program, giveaways, competition and many more things. Children will have the opportunity to try painting, acting, and to learn a lot about traffic and good manners, and their parents can get information on children’s brands, baby care, and also enjoy fair discounts.

The Kids Fair will be open till the end of the weekend.

Crown Princess Katherine opens 2nd Belgrade Reproduction Days and VI Ian Donald School

At the invitation of Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Ljubic, Director of the 6th International Ian Donald School, Crown Princess Katherine opened the School at the Falkensteiner Hotel.

The school will cover the broader scope of the doctors involved in ultrasound, gynaecology, perinatal and reproductive medicine. This means that in addition to basic specialists such as gynaecologists and obstetricians the gathering will also involve embryologists, paediatricians, children’s surgeons, anaesthesiologists and radiologists.

Ian Donald School will have sessions dedicated to the latest technologies in ultrasound diagnostics, ultrasound applications in primary care and screening, as well as the specifics of ultrasound diagnostic in the treatment of serious foetus and mother disorders.

WEDDING OF PRINCE MIHAILO AND PRINCESS LJUBICA KARADJORDJEVIC

Belgrade, 23 October 2016 – His Royal Highness Prince Mihailo Karadjordjevic and Miss Ljubica Ljubisavljevic were united in holy matrimony in the Church of Saint George in Oplenac, which was followed by a reception given by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine, for invited guests at the White Palace. The religious ceremony was officiated by Their Graces Bishop Irinej of the Eastern Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church in America and Bishop Pahomije of Vranje and Father Petar Lukic, Dean of Saborna crkva in Belgrade.

The wedding of Prince Mihailo Karadjordjevic, the youngest son of the late HRH Prince Tomislav and HRH Princess Linda, and Ljubica Ljubisavljevic, was attended by over 300 guests – members and friends of the Royal Family Karadjordjevic, as well as by numerous distinguished guests from public life in Serbia and abroad. The wedding was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine with their children Prince Philip and Alison, Princess Linda Karadjordjevic (mother of Prince Mihajlo), Prince Djordje Karadjordjevic (brother of the bridegroom), Princess Fallon Rayman (wife of Djordje Karadjordjevic), Princess Elizabeth Karadjordjevic, Speaker of the National Parliament Maja Gojkovic, Minister of Education of Serbia, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Serbia Mr. Denis Keefe, and many others.

Following the wedding at the reception at the White Palace, Crown Prince Alexander wished the newlyweds the bride and bridegroom a long and happy life together.

“It is my duty and privilege to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess Ljubica in our home, and to greet the bride’s and groom’s parents, wishing and hoping that good fortune, health, and family blessings follow the new couple and be in our homes, through them and in them”, Crown Prince Alexander said in his speech.

The newlyweds respected Serbian wedding customs, but they were also innovative, so beside the Serbian traditional music, guests had the opportunity to enjoy a cello concert by two young ladies, the winners of a National Contest. The food was based on Serbian tradition. Companies which donated the food are Hyatt, Metropol, Nuzy Bakery, Nada Butcher Shop, Pekara 30, wine was from the Royal Winery Oplenac and Aleksandrovic winery, cake and sweets were a gift by Anci Kolaci Company from Pancevo, and the company “Bean and Leaf” took care of the coffee and tea.

Prince Mihailo Karadjordjevic was born 15 December, 1985 in London. He grew up in a rural area, where he had a lot of time to learn about nature. He organized a number of humanitarian events, and in an effort to engage in the issues of his country he continues to lobby for Serbian interests in the world. Princess Ljubica was born and raised in Belgrade, where she completed her master studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade. She is engaged in marketing and writes columns on health and skin care.
